Sediment Depth Cartridges

Hydro Guard™ SED Series Sediment Depth Cartridges are available in both 2.5” and 4.5” diameter options to meet a wide range of filtration needs. The 2.5” diameter SED cartridges feature a coreless design that provides an economical solution for pre-filtration in many applications. They are widely used as pre-filtration for reverse osmosis (RO) systems and post-filtration for GAC filters, as well as in applications such as ice machines, film processing, beverage production, coffee service, analytical systems, wineries, and more.

The 4.5” diameter SED Series cartridges feature true multi-stage depth filtration, utilizing four separate layers of micron filtration in an outside-in flow design. This allows the outer layer to trap larger particles first, resulting in a much lower pressure drop compared to conventional filters. By capturing particles layer by layer, these cartridges provide a significantly higher dirt-holding capacity than standard spun polypropylene or string-wound cartridges.

Manufactured from 100% pure polypropylene and made with FDA CFR 21–approved materials, Hydro Guard™ SED Series Sediment Depth Cartridges offer graded density for higher dirt-holding capacity and meet NSF Standards 42, 61, and 372. They are free of surfactants, detergents, and anti-static agents, ensuring they do not impart any substances into water that are known to or can cause adverse health effects to humans.

These sediment depth cartridges are ideal for a variety of applications, including electroplating, etching, and image-developing processes in the PCB industry, filtration for electroplating operations, pre-filtration for DI and RO water systems, pre-filtration for low-viscosity chemicals, and water recycling in manufacturing. Their certified compliance with NSF and FDA standards ensures reliable performance across both residential and commercial environments.

Hydro GuardTM SED Series 4.5” Diameter Cartridges

The Hydro Guard 4.5” diameter SED Series Cartridges have true multi-stage depth filtration integrated into their design. Utilizing four separate layers of micron filtration, outside-in flow allows the outer layer to trap the larger sized particles, resulting in a much lower pressure drop compared to conventional filters. Trapping various sized particles layer-by-layer, our SED Series Cartridges provide a much higher dirt holding capacity than standard spun Polypropylene and string wound cartridges.
